I have now been with my fellow Scout’s for 3 full months, and I have to be honest…… on one hand it only feels like 3 weeks, and Summer’s round the corner, how did that happen????, but on the other hand, it feels like I’ve been with Scout forever as my colleagues are like friends I’ve always had :o)
My role as Talent Consultant has been a learning curve, whilst I am no stranger to the Advertising and Marketing industry, I was to recruitment. Thinking back to when I first started at Scout, I remember being nervous and feeling like I didn’t know anything… and for those that know me, I do like to know what I’m doing. Friends and family did keep saying it will take time, but impatient me would still get frustrated. Those are definitely days of the past now, my knowledge is growing more and more by the day. My confidence levels have grown so much and I’m not questioning as much as I did in my first weeks in the role.
It’s amazing matching the correct candidates to their perfect jobs. It’s definitely a very satisfying feeling. Now, I can get excitable, so telling someone they have ‘got the job’ is the best bit, however, I do have to reign it in sometimes as not everyone is as bubbly as I am ;o)
There are a few aspects of the role which are particularly motivating to me, the obvious as I said above, the element of gain in the financial aspect and also on a health & fitness level… we have a PT training session once a week which definitely blows away the cobwebs, they’ll be a few achy bodies, me included for a day or two after which is funny, along with everyone being pretty good healthy eaters which I advocate.
The part I like the most, is that Scout are very different to most other recruiters, we take time to get to know not only our clients but our candidates too. It was only earlier today that I had a lovely chat to a candidate about their upcoming plans with their family. This is definitely one of the best bits of the job, chatting to people, as most will tell you, I love a good natter… My colleagues also now realised this, as sometimes when I talk, I think it’s in my head, but unfortunately it’s out loud, which they’re also getting used to lol
I’m looking forward to speaking to new clients and candidates during my new exciting journey at Scout.
